Author Guidelines

Article submitted to Al-Manar: Jurnal Kajian Alquran dan Hadis editorial board must follow these guidelines:

The article should be based on scientific research.
The article must be an original work and must not have been published previously.
The article should be written in Bahasa Indonesia, Arab, or English.
The article must be typed according to the template.
The article should be approximately 4000-8,000 words long; however, both shorter and longer manuscripts will be considered.
The abstract is written in both Bahasa Indonesia and English and is approximately 150-250 words long, with 6 maximum keywords.
Full name(s) of the author(s) must be stated, along with his/her/their institution and email address.
All submission documents should be in the file format of Microsoft Word or RTF.
All article manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by qualified academics in the field; this is a process that may take weeks or months.
All notes must appear as citations in the footnote. References are recommended to be cited using reference management software, such as Zotero or Mendeley, in the Chicago Manual style 17th Edition (full note).
Arabic romanization should be written as follows: Letters: ’, b, t, th, j, ḥ, kh, d, dh, r, z, s, sh, ṣ, ḍ, ṭ, ẓ, ‘, gh, f, q, l, m, n, h, w, y. Short vowels: a, i, u. long vowels: ā, ī, ū. Diphthongs: aw, ay. Tā marbūṭā: t. Authorship Criteria

Al-Manar: Jurnal Kajian Alquran dan Hadis requires authorship to reflect substantial scholarly contributions, transparency, and accountability. Academic position, seniority, institutional affiliation, or financial support alone do not qualify an individual for authorship.

All authors must meet the following four criteria:

Scholarly Contribution: Make a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception or design of the study, acquisition of research materials or data, or analysis and interpretation of evidence.
Manuscript Preparation: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for significant intellectual content.
Final Approval: Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
Accountability: Accept responsibility for their contributions and cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy and integrity of the work.

All four criteria must be fulfilled. Contributors who meet the first criterion must be given a reasonable opportunity to participate in manuscript preparation, critical revision, and final approval.

Contributors Who Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Individuals who do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately, with their consent, where applicable. Language editing, proofreading, administrative assistance, technical support, general supervision, and funding acquisition alone do not qualify an individual for authorship.

Order of Authors and Corresponding Author

The author order must be agreed upon by all authors based on their scholarly contributions and disciplinary conventions. The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editorial office and ensuring that all authors approve the submitted manuscript. Any changes to authorship or author order after submission require justification and the approval of all affected authors.

Authorship Misconduct

The journal prohibits gift authorship, ghost authorship, and unauthorized changes to the author list. Authorship disputes and suspected misconduct will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and relevant Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance. The journal may request clarification, suspend editorial processing, or refer unresolved matters to the relevant institution.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors. Human authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, proper attribution, and integrity of the manuscript. The use of AI must comply with the journal's AI policy, including applicable disclosure requirements.

Author Declaration

By submitting a manuscript, the corresponding author confirms that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria, have approved the final manuscript, and accept responsibility for the integrity of the work. The journal reserves the right to request clarification regarding authorship and contributorship when necessary. (See: Template)

Author Contribution Statement

Authors must provide a statement describing the individual contributions of each author to the preparation of the manuscript. The statement must accurately reflect each author's actual contribution to the research and writing process.

The following format may be used:

“Author contributions to this article: [Author's Full Name 1] contributed as the initiator of the research and drafter of the article; [Author's Full Name 2] contributed to analyzing and interpreting the data; [Author's Full Name 3] contributed to validating the data and research findings; and [Author's Full Name 4] contributed to collecting data and critically revising the article. All authors have read and approved the final version of the manuscript and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work.”

Authors should adapt this statement to reflect their actual contributions. The order and description of contributions must be agreed upon by all authors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the statement is complete and accurate.

All listed authors must meet the journal's authorship criteria. Individuals who have not made sufficient contributions to qualify for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately, where applicable, rather than automatically included as authors. (See: Template)

Statement of Interest

Authors are required to disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research, its interpretation, or the reporting of its findings. The manuscript must include a statement declaring whether any relevant conflicts of interest exist.

If no conflicts of interest exist, authors should use the following statement:

“All authors declare no conflicts of interest.”

If conflicts of interest exist, authors must describe them clearly and accurately in the manuscript. (See: Template)

Funding

Authors are required to disclose all sources of funding or financial support for the research and preparation of the manuscript, including institutional, private, and corporate funding. Where applicable, authors should identify the funding organization and provide the relevant grant or project number.

If the research received no specific external funding, authors should use the following statement:

“This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.”

The funding statement will be included in the published article. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all funding information is accurate and complete. (See: Template)
